ER floating chuck

Floating chuck with a parallel float mechanism for perfect reaming processing.

What is a floating chuck? When using a reamer on a lathe, it is necessary to correct the misalignment between the chuck and the axis of the pilot hole. This misalignment can be corrected by using a floating chuck with a self-centering mechanism. The floating chuck perfectly aligns the axis of the reamer with that of the workpiece's pilot hole, allowing for machining with the reamer's inherent precision. Advantages of a floating chuck The excellent self-centering mechanism prevents tapering of the hole and enlargement of the hole diameter, thereby improving the surface accuracy of the hole. Problem-solving with a floating chuck By increasing the speed of reaming, productivity is enhanced. This is due to improvements in surface roughness and hole accuracy. Additionally, because the reamer wears evenly during machining, tool life is significantly extended, allowing for machining over long periods without a loss of precision.
